Orara Escarpment 4WD Touring Route

Orara Escarpment 4WD touring route is a short, 80-kilometre round-trip from Coffs Harbour, taking in remote eucalypt forests and subtropical rainforests. With plenty of picnic spots and swimming holes along the way, it makes for an ideal family day trip.

Ascend over 600m as you make your way up the picturesque Orara Escarpment 4WD Touring Route, meandering through rainforest and eucalypts to the spectacular Bangalore Falls, where you can soak in the dramatic sights and sounds of the waterfall from the lookout.

If you’re keen for more nurturing from nature, continue through subtropical rainforests to the Urumbilum picnic area; a short walk downstream leads you to the picture-postcard Urumbilum Falls. Head back through tree ferns, hoop pine, and cabbage tree palms on Range Road and marvel at the magnificent old-growth forest along Langleys Road. Birdwatchers can delight in glimpses of lyrebirds, bush turkeys, and glossy black cockatoos along the way.
