The Sydney Sixers are bringing the excitement of cricket’s Big Bash League to C.ex Coffs International Stadium on January 5, 2020 for a must see clash with the Adelaide Strikers.
Australia’s premier T20 cricket competition is in its ninth season but this will be the first time the Sixers have taken a ‘home’ game away from the Sydney Cricket Ground and into a regional area.
Several regional centres were considered for the game, that will be broadcast live on Channel 7 and Fox Cricket, but the quality of the C.ex Coffs International Stadium pitch and facilities was a major factor in the game coming to the Coffs Coast.
The Big Bash is one of the most affordable events of the summer with tickets for a family of four only $44, while adults entry starts at $22. Kids (aged 5-15) are just $5.
The Sixers and Strikers played twice last summer with the Sydney team winning the first game at the Adelaide Oval by six wickets, before doubling down with an eight wicket victory at the SCG.
One of the stars of that second game was Sixers captain Moises Henriques who will again lead the men in magenta in BBL|09. The powerful all-rounder said there was a buzz around the squad ahead of the trip to Coffs Harbour.
“What a top spot to be able to get away and play at in the middle of the season,” Henriques said.
“It’s a great facility and I know it’s going to be awesome. It will be an incredible atmosphere and a great night out for everyone – I know we will be working as hard as we can to get the win.”
Henriques implored the local community to get behind his team and adopt them as their own.
“As captain of this great club I know I can speak for everyone when I say we want the people of the Coffs Coast to take us on as their own and get behind us,” Henriques said.
Big Bash games are more than just cricket matches with plenty of pre-game entertainment, including the family friendly fan zone that will include a host of activities and activations for kids.
The night will also feature plenty of music and off field interviews to give everyone insight into what is happening out on the pitch.
The game will start at 6:40pm on Sunday January 5. Tickets and information can be found at www.sydneysixers.com.au.
