The Raw Bar Story

Energetic owner Amy Barrett is a picture of health, a glowing endorsement for the raw food movement. Originally a florist, Amy’s passion for holistic health and nutrition and her personal journey of eliminating dairy, gluten and refined sugars from her diet led her on a path to creating healthy and nutritious treats. Raised as a vegetarian and influenced by her mother’s love of cooking, this self-taught cook creates incredible snacks and treats that are bursting with colour and flavour – you won’t even notice they’re healthy!

Amy says “the most satisfying thing for me is seeing children with food allergies realise they can eat anything in the store, they’re faces just light up.”

Amy says, “Even though the raw food movement has been around for years, people are becoming far more aware of what they are consuming, how it makes them feel and also where it comes from. Ethical farming practices and the environment are huge factors for people today, and eating in that way of course goes hand in hand with the plant food movement. Mindful eating good food with purpose is a win/win.”

All the items on the menu at Raw Bar are vegan, gluten-free, organic and made from locally sourced produce. Amy shops at farmers markets and stalls for seasonal produce to create her healthy and delicious salads and snacks. Discussing her passion for local produce Amy says, “I love that I get to chat to the person who has grown that plant, who has cared for it and nourished it so that I can pass that on! It’s real food grown with love and so fresh, which means better quality with more nutritional benefits.”

Mindful eating also extends to reducing waste and Raw Bar has some innovative package options to eliminate plastic and reduce single use packaging. Guests dining in are served their sweet treats on cute ceramic plates with adorable vintage cake forks.
