Woolgoolga Curryfest

Curryfest Is Turning 18!

Don’t miss Woolgoolga’s signature festival on September 28.

Our Northern Beaches Chamber of Commerce, with the assistance of local Event Management firm, Another Tasty Event, are busy organising funding, equipment, insurance, food stalls, performers, council approvals and volunteers to run our town’s special day.

“Curryfest is more than a celebration of Woolgoolga’s unique cultural diversity, it is a fundraiser for various local volunteer groups who help on the day and it generates enormous economic spin off by bringing visitors to town. Visitors from outside the Coffs Coast stay on average more than three days in our area spending money at local shops and businesses”. – Curryfest Committee chair Pam Fayle

According to event manager Carl Mower, this year will feature fabulous Coffs Coast chefs at the cooking zone and there will be a number of new Bhangra dance groups performing as part of a more extensive main stage dance competition.

“There will be Dholi drummers and last year’s successful Indian Bazaar will be back again along with a new addition of some laughing yoga sessions for visitors to join in with, as well as the turban tying and dance workshops,” said Carl

Many would know that events are expensive to run and many have had to close down recently, but Curryfest is determined to ensure family friendliness by keeping entry costs for school-aged children and younger free of charge.

So support our local businesses and volunteer groups, invite friends and relatives to visit Woopi and pop along to celebrate this year’s Curryfest.

In its 18th year Curryfest has well and truly come of age!

This exciting zone brings a touch of India’s rich culture and style to the festival. Nestled among the festivities, the Curryfest Bazaar offers a delightful shopping experience with an array of vendors showcasing a splendid collection of clothing, including shawls, scarves, dupattas, and shoes.

The intricate details of Indian craftsmanship will be on full display, with exquisite jewellery that captures the essence of Indian traditions.

For those seeking a temporary artistic flair, henna tattoo artists will adorn their hands with beautiful designs. The bazaar also features a curated selection of goods ranging from blankets to linen clothing, all infused with a distinctly Indian flair.

Enjoy the colours, patterns, and textures of Curryfest Bazaar, a treasure trove that adds a unique and enchanting dimension to every year’s festivities.

Drawing over 15,000 attendees annually, Curryfest has established itself as a highlight on the region’s event calendar. It’s a chance for families, friends and individuals from near and far to come together in the spirit of celebration. Whether you’re a seasoned festival goer or a first-timer, the warm and welcoming atmosphere will make you feel right at home.

If you’re considering attending, now’s the time to secure your spot. Booking your ticket early ensures that you won’t miss out on this fabulous day out. It’s a chance to experience the magic that happens when food, culture and dance converge in a single event, creating memories that last a lifetime.

So as the festival approaches, make your plans to enjoy the Woolgoolga Curryfest 2024, hopefully it will be another stunning Woopi Spring day. See you there!
