CAMEL RIDES COFFS HARBOUR
Coffs Coast Camels is the company behind an exciting new attraction that was launched on Coffs Coast.
Allan Atkinson, a Kiwi who decided to start the camel rides in subtropical Coffs Harbour, joined forces with Natalie Keft to create one of the regions popular tourist experiences, attracting film and media attention from around the world.
The camel rides are held on Boambee Beach, which is the straight, long beach between Jetty Beach in Coffs Harbour and Boambee Creek in Sawtell.
A beach ride on a camel is a unique experience you’ll remember forever. Sitting high atop this ship of the desert, you’ll instantly leave all your worries behind. It’s also an educational experience, as you’ll learn amazing facts about these gentle animals from the friendly handlers, who walk in front of and behind the ‘camel caravan’.
You’ll also enjoy the most amazing views of the Coffs Harbour Jetty, Marina, Mutton Bird Island, the magnificent mountains, sand dunes and the deep blue Pacific Ocean. Whales have been seen frolicking off the coast by people riding camels, and dolphins also regularly make a surprise appearance.
The Camel Beach rides are popular with visitors, especially with the introduction of the Champagne, Wedding, Birthday and Corporate Camel beach rides.
You’ll find Coffs Coast Camels next to the Deep Sea Fishing Club at the end of Jordan Esplanade. You can just turn up for a regular half hour beach ride or book in advance for a late afternoon one hour champagne ride with some of your friends.
Visit www.coffscoastcamels.com.au to check all the latest rides/tours and prices or you can visit them on facebook.
Extremely bad weather or very high king tides are the only reasons the rides may be temporarily suspended.
Weight restrictions do apply and the maximum weight per person is 105kg.
Don’t forget to bring your camera as there will be plenty of opportunities to take photos – and this is one experience you’ll surely want to capture in pictures!
